Chicago Hardy Fig Tree

Ficus carica 'Chicago Hardy'

Chicago Hardy Fig is the most cold-hardy fig variety commonly available, surviving winters in Zone 5 when given proper protection. Developed in Chicago, it produces medium-sized, brownish-purple figs with sweet, rich flavor. Even if the top dies back in winter, it regrows vigorously from the roots.
