# Pacific Wax Myrtle Care Guide Pacific Wax Myrtle is a versatile native evergreen shrub or small tree for the West Coast. It is excellent for screening, hedging, and naturalizing, tolerating coastal conditions, wind, salt spray, and drought. ## Planting Plant in full sun to part shade with well-drained soil. Tolerates clay, sandy, and rocky soils. Space 6–10 feet apart for hedging. ## Watering Water weekly for the first season. Once established, very drought tolerant. ## Pruning Prune in late winter to shape as a hedge or small tree. Tolerates heavy pruning. ## Wildlife Berries are eaten by many bird species.
