PlantWise collects minimal information to provide its plant recommendation service. When you use our recommendation wizard, we collect your ZIP code to determine your USDA hardiness zone. This ZIP code, along with the city and state derived from it, may be stored in association with your saved plant lists if you choose to create an account.
If you create an account, we collect your name and email address through our OAuth authentication provider. We do not store passwords directly.
We use the information we collect to: provide personalized plant recommendations based on your USDA hardiness zone; save and retrieve your plant lists if you have an account; improve our plant database and recommendation algorithms; and understand aggregate usage patterns to improve the service.
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.
PlantWise contains affiliate links to third-party retailers including Amazon, Nature Hills Nursery, Fast Growing Trees, and Proven Winners. When you click these links and make a purchase, those retailers may set cookies on your browser and collect information according to their own privacy policies. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party sites you visit.

PlantWise uses cookies to maintain your session when you are logged in. We may use privacy-respecting analytics to understand aggregate traffic patterns (e.g., which pages are most visited). We do not use cross-site tracking cookies or behavioral advertising.
Saved plant lists are retained as long as your account is active. Shareable links expire after one year from creation. If you delete your account, your saved lists and associated data will be removed from our systems within 30 days.
PlantWise is not directed at children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data by emailing us at [email protected]. We will respond to your request within 30 days.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify users of material changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of PlantWise after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
