Complete Care Guide

# Agave Care Guide Agave thrives in full sun and well-drained soil. Plant in a location with excellent drainage — standing water will rot the roots. Once established, water only during extended dry spells (every 2–4 weeks in summer). In winter, little to no water is needed. ## Planting Choose a spot with at least 6 hours of direct sun. Amend heavy clay soils with coarse sand or gravel. Space large varieties 6–10 feet apart. ## Watering Deep water every 2–4 weeks in summer; monthly or less in winter. Overwatering is the most common cause of death. ## Pruning Remove dead outer leaves as needed. Wear thick gloves — the leaf tips are extremely sharp. ## Pests & Diseases Generally pest-free. Watch for agave snout weevil in warm climates.
